As members of the yLSC delegation to the 2026 YDSA Convention, we are deeply disappointed to learn about the news concerning the NCC Co-Chair race. Any abuse of power by a Y/DSA staffer for personal political gain is unacceptable in a democratic socialist organization. Personal membership data is inherently extremely confidential and sensitive, and it is abhorrent to use this data acquired through illegitimate means to further one’s own personal political objectives.

We thank the Global Majority Slate for bringing this information to light. All convention delegates and members of YDSA deserve to have full knowledge concerning the behavior and actions of candidates for NCC and any other office within YDSA. We thank all of those at the convention for helping to shine a light on this information, and ensure that corrupt actors would not be elected to YDSA’s highest body. Further, we look forward to the full publication to the YDSA membership of the full report on these actions and how this abuse of power did not come to light until now.

We continue to call for everyone in YDSA to act within our political spaces in good faith and for the advancement of the youth socialist project, rather than for their own personal goals. From our fifth and seventh Points of Unity, we call on all to embrace care and good faith within YDSA, and to fight for accountability and transparency within our organization to protect our ability to democratically organize. As members of LSC, we will continue to advance the call for greater democratic measures within DSA and YDSA. From here, we call on the new NCC to analyze and rectify the challenges that YDSA nationally has faced in the past from this incident, to the events leading to the recent NCC censures, and all prior violations of the trust and expectations of YDSA members.
