Solidarity with the Prairieland 19!
The Libertarian Socialist Caucus of DSA stands in firm solidarity with the Prairieland defendants, and all those imprisoned for resisting US fascism and ICE terror.
On March 13th, 2026, a federal jury convicted 9 protestors of various trumped-up charges in connection to a July 4th noise demonstration against an ICE detainment facility near Dallas. These nine convictions are part of a larger number of 19 defendants who have been arrested by the state in connection with this protest. This is the same facility that, until recently, held Palestinian student protestor Leqaa Kordia. Eight of the nine defendants were convicted of “material support for terrorism” for simply wearing black to the protest, even though it was established during the trial that not all of them were wearing black. One of the defendants, Daniel Sanchez Estrada, known as Des Revol by his friends and supporters, wasn’t even at the protest, but was convicted of “corruptly concealing a document” and faces potential deportation for simply moving a box of anarchist zines.
While these charges represent a new weapon of the state against those struggling against US fascism and ICE terror, they are just another chapter in the US government’s long history of using courts, police, and deportation against leftists, the colonized, and people of color fighting for liberation. From the Palmer Raids of the 1900s, which led to the deportation of hundreds of immigrant anarchists, socialists, and trade unionists; to the trials of the Chicago 7 and the Panther 21 during the 1960s, and to the modern day with the J20 defendants, and now, the Prairieland 9.
And just as these defendants join a long tradition of the American empire jailing people for their politics, we too must join the long tradition of solidarity with political prisoners. It was only through solidarity that the verdict of the Chicago 7 was overturned on appeal, that the Panther 21 were acquitted, and that the charges of the J20 defendants were dropped.
As libertarian socialists, we call on all socialists throughout and beyond DSA to stand in solidarity with the Prairieland defendants. If wearing a certain color at a protest or owning radical literature can get you arrested, then we are all at risk. Although the state seeks to destroy our movement with incarceration, our solidarity and belief in a better world is stronger than any prison wall. As the Black anarchist and political prisoner Martin Sostre once said:
If Attica fell to us in a matter of hours… so shall fall all your fortresses, inside and out. Revolutionary spirit conquers all obstacles.
LSC stands in complete solidarity with the Prairieland defendants and calls for the freedom of all political prisoners and the abolition of both policing and prisons.
Please support the Prairieland defendants at https://prairielanddefendants.com/. Letters of support are a lifeline for the defendants, and donations are needed as some still face state charges and need money for commissary.
